🍒Sometimes Always by SISTER no8🍒
Hello world,
Welcome back! Thank you so much to all the new subscribers!
The weather is warm in Melbourne and I can smell everyone's bbqs on the street in the evenings. I did lots of fun things this week and ate especially well – so I’m excited to share Issue 8 with you all. :)
Love,
Em
🍒What we’re listening to
I COULD DIE AND GO TO HEAVEN HAPPY NOW…. Because the new Golden Plains lineup just came out and for the first time in years I have the serious need to go! Especially with PJ Harvey announced as one of the headliners.
I have lived in Melbourne for 17 years and over that time I have had some of my most spiritual musical moments in the amphitheater.
So with all this excitement I have been smashing a lot of PJ this week.

🍒What we’re watching
On Thursday night I watched eight short films as part of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. The films were about Mountain culture (not my usual cup of tea). I will admit I was a little hesitant to go but as the festival was held at the Capitol building, this was a huge drawcard for me. I have always been incredibly curious about the Capitol but have never had the opportunity to see inside.
Wouldn’t you know it but I ended up loving the films! Each film was an epic tale of (mainly female) adventurers conquering the most insane mountains! They were skiing, climbing, hiking and more and I was in awe.
The Capitol Theater also turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. The art Deco theater was designed by the American husband and wife architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin in 1924.
I highly recommend going along to anything showing there just to check out the amazing space.

🍒What we’re eating
After going to the film festival I finally got to eat at Me De Thai in the Paramount food court, located in Chinatown. I had been dying to eat here for years but the restaurants close early after being open all day.
It did not disappoint, everything was zingy, spicy and extra yummy. After inspecting all the other meals on the tables around us, I have a better idea of what to order next time, but I will admit I was a really boring orderer this time.

Fasolakia recipe - ala Emma
I am addicted to making Fasolakia, which is a greek bean stew. It’s so easy to whip up and always makes me feel so good inside and out when I eat it!
It's a gorgi weeknight dish when you don’t have loads of time, and it tastes even better for lunch the next day. I’m sure I don’t do it justice (although my best friend is Cypriot and she showed me how to make it) so maybe I’m better than I think!
Ingredients
-Olive oil- lots
-1 onion chopped
- a few garlic cloves chopped
- a few potatoes roughly chopped
- a big bag of green beans, trimmed
- 3 medium tomatoes or a tin of tomatoes or tomato paste, whatever you have around the house
- i like to put a couple of carrots in for sweetness
- a pinch of sugar and salt and pepper to taste
- about half a cup of stock ( just feel it out)
- parsley and dill ( i like to put in and more at the end and to serve)
- lemon juice is always welcomed
- fetta on top and the end is epic too
Method:
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the onions, then add the garlic.
Cook, stirring occasionally until the onions are translucent. Add the potatoes, carrots and salt and pepper and cook until the potatoes begin to develop some golden brown color, about 5-8 minutes.
Then add the beans, tomatoes and stock and simmer for about 25 minutes.
Serve with a piece of feta on top and some parsley and you will be in heaven.
🍒What we’re up to
WTF! This market is so cute and on every Saturday morning.
Like every other Melb bagel lover, I trekked down to try my luck in the Masses Bagel line on Saturday. And it was magical. My partner and I shared three bagels between us and I can tell you they were amaze! I’m super excited to check out there new store when it opens in Collingwood.
The market itself is also just so cute stocking lots of fresh flowers, yummy things and lots of people watching.I ran into a bunch of pals and it has a lovely community vibe. There's a flower stand at the front that has the most amazing cottage garden flowers for $12 a bunch – so I got three bunches to fill the house.
